Created by VCCP, the 60-second TV spot for the “Not Alone” campaign, titled “Blizzard”, shows an individual, David, dealing with cancer in a “lonely place”. Another spot, “Mist”, which launches in March, will showcase the struggle of a woman named Claire.
As well as promoting the services offered by Macmillan, the campaign asks people to reach out and support the two and a half million people living with cancer in the UK. The aim is to “inspire millions of people to become part of the solution and help to improve the lives of everyone living with cancer”, according to the charity.
Carly Wilson, head of brand advertising and campaign integration for Macmillan, says: “As well as creating cut through in such a busy marketplace, we hope it will help us engage with a new audience and encourage them to reach out to someone they know with cancer.”
The campaign will be supported by digital, social and out of home activity, as well as an online hub called The Source which offers tips and inspiration.
