EDF Energy announces hike in prices

EDF Energy has announced a 19% hike in gas prices and an 8% rise in electricity prices. French-owned EDF says the rises were caused by the jump in wholesale prices of gas and oil. In March, the firm raised electricity prices by 4.7% and gas by 14.6%.

Vodafone reappoints Arun Sarin

Vodafone’s board has reappointed chief executive Arun Sarin despite a shareholder poll in which almost 10% of votes were cast against him. Outgoing chairman Lord MacLaurin told the company’s annual meeting: “There is absolutely no question of him stepping down.”
