Confirmation of Sanoff’s departure follows a report in The Sun that claimed 200 staff walked out of the Tel Aviv office in Israel, which handles marketing and customer support for William Hill’s online business, over rumours that the unit is going to relocate to Gibraltar or the UK.

A statement from William Hill, however, says there is “no intention” of relocating sales and marketing.

It did not comment directly on the walkout but did say that “several other senior managers in Tel Aviv are now subject to disciplinary actions in relation to the disruption this week within the marketing business in Tel Aviv, and in the customer service and back office operations in Manila and Bulgaria.”

It adds that “senior William Hill online management are currently on the ground in Tel Aviv working through these issues”.

The company was also keen to stress that “at present” the disruption is not affecting its consumer websites.
