Emirates pens £150m sponsorship deal with Arsenal

Emirates has confirmed it has signed a £150m five-year extension of its sponsorship of Premier League side Arsenal.

The airline’s brand will appear on the club’s shirts until the end of the 2018/2019 season. The North London side’s ground will also continue to be called the Emirates Stadium until 2028 it was announced today (23 November).

The £30m a year deal matches what it is thought Chevrolet paid Manchester United earlier this year and outstrips Barcelona’s £25m per-year deal with Qatar Foundation.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates, says its sponsorships, the airline is an official FIFA partner and backs several golf tournaments, and Arsenal in particular “deliver immeasurable value”.

“The club has been an important enabler of the growth of our business over the last decade and we are confident this will continue as part of our extended deal.

“This partnership remains a perfect combination of two truly global brands. Through our global network and carefully selected sports sponsorships Emirates is able to unite and engage fans, and coupled with Arsenal’s world-wide fan following this makes for a strong match,” he adds.

Emirates signed its first deal to sponsor the club’s stadium in 2004 and first shirt deal in 2006.
