KISS launches Remixer app
Bauer’s KISS eyes new track distribution platform through tie-up with Soniqplay.
Bauer Media’s KISS has partnered with Soniqplay to launch a mobile app that lets users purchase, remix and then share their favourite tracks in a bid to establish a new way to promote record labels’ artists.
The KISS Remixer app is available on both Apple and Blackberry devices and lets users download tracks for free or £1.99 via an in-app storefront, remix them using a variety of DJ effects, and then share them via their social networks.
KISS will promote the app via its broadcast and social media channels with each track downloaded via the app will be recognised by the Official Charts Company.
Soniqplay has brokered deals with the industry’s major record labels and music publishers to ensure the app is updated with new content with artists including Example, Rizzle Kicks, No Doubt and Ellie Goulding making their tracks available via the app at launch.
Liz Cunningham, head of commercial programming at Kiss Network, Bauer Media, says: “We are excited about the KISS Remixer launching on iOS and the range of artists we have participating in the app. It’s a great way of getting our listeners creating content as well as creating a new digital revenue model for commercial radio.”
The app also lets users look up the “highest rated” tracks on the KISS Remixer chart, suggest new tracks that can be downloaded via the storefront and currently doesn’t carry any advertising.
Earlier this year, Global Radio unveiled plans to overhaul its suite of iOS apps to include a host of new functions such as news stories of the artists being streamed plus a click-to-download feature allowing listeners to download said tracks directly from iTunes.
